形態特徵

Medium-sized evergreen trees with grayish-brown, glabrous bark; branches with lenticels.
Leaves rhombic, elliptic to ovate-oblong, 6–10 cm long, 2.5–4 cm broad, coriaceous, grayish-white below, acuminate at apex, acute at base, margins entire, midrib flattened above, prominent below, lateral veins 8–9 pairs; petioles 1–2 cm long.
Staminate flowers with 6-lobed perianth; stamens 12, 2 mm long, 1.5 mm broad. Pistillate flowers 3–5-clustered; perianth 6-lobed, 1.2 mm long, 1 mm broad, styles 3, hairy at base, stigmas pointed.
Cupules 0.5 cm long, 1.3 cm across, scales united into 2–3 concentric rings below, imbricate in the upper part;nuts depressed-rhomboid before maturity, soon becoming obovoid, ellipsoid or depressed-globose, 1.6–1.7 cm long, 1.8 cm across.

物候

Staminate flowers blooming from April to May; fruits maturing from September to December.

分布

台灣 : in broad-leaved forests from low to medium altitudes (400–1,500 m) in the central and southern parts.
世界 : Distributed in S China, Hong Kong and Indochina.
